Create, Protect & Connect - May we introduce the Open Donor Association

We exist to make family-building ethical, transparent, and deeply connected - for parents, donors, and the next generation.

We are building a nonprofit-driven platform, where the focus is not on profit margins but on families, trust, and future generations. Every decision we make is grounded in the belief that families - no matter how they're formed - deserve honesty, dignity, and enduring support.

At the Open Donor Association, our mission is to help women, donors and couples create the families they dream of — not through anonymous transactions, but through open connections, trusted support, and long-term care and connections for donor-conceived children.

The fertility world has become too transactional, too closed, and too disconnected from the long-term well-being of the families it serves.

At the Open Donor Association, we’re changing that.

We believe that donor conception should be grounded in trust, transparency, and lasting connection. Not secrecy. That’s why we only work with open donors who are committed to ethical contribution and long-term visibility, should a child wish to know their origins.

We also believe that every recipient deserves full support — not just in the moment of conception, but throughout their entire journey. Whether you're a single mom, a lesbian couple, or an LGBTQ+ family preparing for the future, we’re here to help you find the right match, receive real support, and connect to a growing community that shares your values.

Most importantly, we believe that donor-conceived persons (DCPs) deserve care, connection, and community as they grow. This is why we provide tools, networks, and safe spaces for them to meet others, understand their identity, and stay connected.

We’re not just helping you bring a child into the world.

We’re helping you build a foundation of love, truth, and belonging. One family at a time.

Built by donors & recipients. Made for donors & recipients.

Why Our Mission Matters for Every Future Child

Why Openness Is the Future of Family Building

Creating a child should never be a secret. It should be something every future son or daughter can feel proud of — knowing that their story began with truth, dignity, and love.

The Open Donor Association exists to protect the long-term emotional wellbeing of donor-conceived children while helping families grow through compassion, transparency, and ethical decision-making.

The Heart of Our Mission

We believe that:

• Children deserve access to their origins

• Parents deserve support, not confusion or fear

• Donors deserve respect and protection

• Families deserve clarity, not clinical coldness

This is not just about genetics.

This is about identity, belonging, and lifelong security.

Why We Reject Anonymous Donation

Traditional sperm banks were built on an outdated belief:

that children do not need to know where they come from.

But research and thousands of donor-conceived adult stories reveal the opposite.

Many feel incomplete or even betrayed when they discover the truth later in life.

That is why ODA requires:

• Open identity

• Transparency

• Accountability for future contact

Your child will never have to wonder who their donor is.

The Founder’s Perspective: Donor-Conceived

ODA was created by someone born through donation — someone raised with love, but also with unanswered questions.

This lived experience shapes everything we do:

• Children should grow up with answers, not mysteries

• History matters — health, ancestry, matching traits

• Identity is not optional, it is foundational

• Connection is a gift, not a threat

We honor children by being honest from the beginning.

Ethics First: Protecting Everyone Involved

We support responsible agreements that are clear and kind:

• Recipients remain the legal and emotional parents

• Donors have no co-parent or financial obligations

• Children retain the right to information later

This triangle of transparency prevents misunderstandings and protects futures.

Medical and Lifestyle Standards That Actually Matter

We set a higher bar than most banks:

• Verified semen quality and fertility

• Updated STI testing and medical checks

• Health-supportive lifestyle (no smoking, no drugs)

• Psychological and maturity screening

• Motivation aligned with helping, not recklessness

Only men who truly understand their role become donors with us.

Supporting Single Mothers by Choice and LGBTQ+ Families

We are proud to support families who have too often been ignored or stigmatized by the medical system:

• Solo women taking full ownership of motherhood

• Lesbian and queer couples building a shared biological legacy

• Intended parents navigating male-factor infertility

Love defines a family — we simply help create the biological beginning.

Why Our Approach Outperforms Sperm Banks and Expensive Matchmaking Services

Sperm banks focus on product distribution.

We focus on relationships that minimize risk and maximize emotional health.

Our advantages:

• Better information about the donor

• No outdated or anonymous profiles

• Direct communication for clarity and comfort

• Support through timing and decision making

• Long-term consideration for the child

Families feel safer. Children feel seen.

Responsible Global Support

ODA is based in Florida and supports families worldwide through:

• Virtual guidance and matching

• Travel-based donation with planning

• Clinic or midwife collaboration when needed

Whether you are in Miami or abroad, ethical support is available.

A Legacy of Honesty for the Next Generation

One day, your child may ask:

“Where did I come from?”

“What is my story?”

“Who helped create me?”

We make sure you have answers you can be proud to give.

Together, we are proving that donor-conceived children deserve:

• Identity

• Clarity

• Pride in their origin

• A narrative rooted in love

This is family creation done right.
